Green Trees Once More: Recycling Efforts Make a Big Impact in 2024

In 2024, Green Trees Once More took a proactive approach to sustainability by incorporating recycling as a fundraising initiative. The results speak for themselves—significant reductions in carbon dioxide emissions were achieved through these efforts. Below are the key statistics showcasing the environmental benefits:

Carbon Dioxide Reduction Through Recycling

Steel Recycling

Items recycled: Washers, dryers, refrigerators, bathtubs, and various individual metal pieces that would have otherwise ended up in landfills.

  • Total Weight Recycled: 28,639 lbs

  • Carbon Dioxide Savings: 24.54 metric tons of CO2 saved

 

Aluminum Can Recycling

Aluminum recycling is one of the most energy-efficient ways to reduce waste, and this year’s initiative yielded impressive results.

  • Total Cans Recycled: 27,540

  • Total Weight Recycled: 918 lbs

  • Electricity Saved: 209,304 KWH

  • Carbon Dioxide Savings: 5.96 metric tons of CO2 saved

Additional Recycled Materials

A variety of other recyclable materials contributed to the overall sustainability effort, including:

  • Copper, brass, lead-acid batteries, stainless steel, computers, electric motors, and aluminum

  • Carbon Dioxide Savings: 8.70 metric tons of CO2 saved

 

Bald Cypress Tree Planting

As part of Green Trees Once More’s commitment to a greener future, 300 Bald Cypress trees were planted, each sequestering approximately 50 lbs of carbon dioxide per year.

  • Total Carbon Dioxide Sequestered: 6.8 metric tons of CO2 saved

Total Environmental Impact for 2024

Through recycling and tree planting efforts, Green Trees Once More successfully sequestered a grand total of:

46 metric tons of CO2 saved!
